In their April 30th blog, Shop.org shared some interesting insights from a survey conducted amongst 2012 Mother’s Day consumers. The survey suggested that 1 in 4 shoppers will purchase their Mother’s Day gifts online, and online consumers expect to spend an average of 53% more than shoppers in other categories.
Also – many online shoppers will research and compare Mother’s Day ideas from their desktops and mobile phones, and head to their local department or specialty store to complete their purchase. In fact 2 out of 5 Mother’s Day shoppers who own smartphones, will use them to assist in their shopping efforts for this special day.
The blog also revealed that last year (2011), online sales peaked the Tuesday before the big day, while in-store shopping peaked the day before Mother’s Day.
