A Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) is a unique and internationally recognized identifier that helps Google understand exactly what product you are selling.

According to Google: “When we understand what you’re selling, we can help boost your ad performance by adding valuable details about the product and serving the ad in a more relevant way to users.”

Starting May 16th, advertisers targeting the US will be required to submit GTINs with the corresponding brand, for all new products that have GTINs assigned by the manufacturer.

This requirement will not yet apply to Canadian targeting, though we expect this to change in the future.

Merchants participating in our Google PLA integration will want to ensure their product feed contains the GTIN field for their products.
