Google has announced (in a recent blog post) that they are working on major changes that will affect anyone hoping to get found by Google searchers. Starting on April 21, Google will rank having a mobile-friendly website high on their list of considerations when deciding who to display in search results. These changes will be gradually rolled out worldwide, affecting mobile searches in all languages in all corners of the globe.

With an estimated 60 percent of all Google searches now being performed on mobile devices, it makes sense Google will be making changes to ensure the best possible experience for its mobile users.

Though great for searchers, these changes mean retailers must ensure they have a mobile-friendly presence online – and soon.
