According to the latest eCustomerServiceIndex (eCSI) results from eDigitalResearch and IMRG 25% of consumers feel that their online shopping experience is better over the holiday season. This, coupled with the fact that the in-store shopping experience in many stores is worse at this time is helping to contribute to the growth of online and mobile shopping for the holidays.

Online shopping is noted as being better during the holiday season due to the large amount of special deals and a larger range of products on sale. In-store shopping on the other hand still offers great value, but stores are much busier than normal and if the increased volume is not handled properly then it can result in a negative experience for shoppers.

Other points of interest from the survey are:

  • 64% of smartphone shoppers plan to spend more on their mobile this Christmas compared to last year.
  •  44% of smartphone owners will consider doing some of their Christmas shopping from their mobile device

This is the perfect time for retailers to make sure that they have covered all the bases in regards to making sure customers can find them and shop effectively in person, online, and on mobile devices.
